Ozone layer on road to recovery despite volcano eruption, UN weather body says

The World Meteorological Organization reports that the ozone layer is recovering, despite a recent volcanic eruption near Tonga. The layer is expected to return to 1980 levels by 2066 over Antarctica, 2045 over the Arctic, and 2040 globally. This progress is attributed to the Montreal Protocol’s phase-out of ozone-depleting substances.
