PM’s former personal assistant Jahangir’s bank account frozen

The Bangladesh Bank has ordered the freezing of bank accounts belonging to Jahangir Alam, former personal assistant to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, his wife, and their associated companies. This action follows the Prime Minister’s public comments about a former staff member amassing unexplained wealth. Jahangir Alam, who served as the PM’s personal assistant for multiple terms, was previously relieved of his position due to various allegations. The freeze will last for 30 days under the Money Laundering Prevention Act.
