Prof Yunus to be chief adviser of interim govt
Nobel laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus has been appointed chief adviser of Bangladesh’s interim government following Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation amid mass protests. The decision was announced after a meeting between protest organizers and President Shahabuddin. The country has been in turmoil since mid-July, with over 400 deaths reported in violent clashes. The protests, initially about public service job quotas, escalated to demands for Hasina’s resignation after numerous casualties.
