Spain joins S Africa’s Gaza case at UN top court

By Redoy K

Spain has announced that it will join South Africa’s case against Israel at the UN’s International Court of Justice (ICJ), where Pretoria has accused Israel of “genocide” during its military offensive in Gaza. Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares stated their goal is to end the war and advance the two-state solution. Several Latin American nations have already joined the proceedings, but Spain is the first European country to do so. The ICJ’s rulings are legally binding, though it lacks enforcement mechanisms.
