UN HR chief Volker Turk to visit Bangladesh this month

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk is set to visit Bangladesh in late October for three days. He’s expected to meet Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus and discuss human rights issues, including establishing a UN office in Dhaka. This visit follows an invitation from the Chief Adviser for a fact-finding mission on recent human rights violations. An advance team has already visited Bangladesh, meeting various stakeholders.
