World’s 1st Openly Gay South African Imam, Muhsin Hendricks, Shot Dead

South African police reported that Muhsin Hendricks, the world’s first openly gay imam, was fatally shot near Gqeberha on Saturday. Hendricks, who ran a mosque providing a safe space for LGBTQ and marginalized Muslims, was killed when masked assailants blocked his vehicle and opened fire.
