X, formerly Twitter, to shut down operations in Brazil

X, formerly Twitter, announced it’s closing operations in Brazil due to “censorship orders” from Judge Alexandre de Moraes. The platform claims Moraes threatened its legal representative with arrest if content wasn’t removed. X will remain available in Brazil. Elon Musk, X’s owner, called Moraes an “utter disgrace to justice.” The judge has been investigating “digital militias” accused of spreading misinformation. Brazil’s Supreme Court declined to comment on the situation. Reuters
